PORTABLE TERMINAL AND USER INTERFACE METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A portable terminal and a user interface method thereof are provided to receive a control command from a user without displaying a menu on a touch screen. CONSTITUTION: A touch screen unit(120) detects the location and movement of contact. When a gesture recognition command is inputted, a touch screen mode controller(150) sets gesture recognition mode to gesture through the location and movement of the contact and generate a control command corresponding to the gesture. The gesture recognition command is inputted when a web browser is executed. The touch screen mode controller sets screen control mode after generating the control command.
