PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing aromatic compounds having organic semiconductor characteristics and their related intermediate compounds. SOLUTION: Provided is the method for producing the aromatic compound, comprising reacting an aromatic compound represented by formula (1), wherein, X is S atom or Se atom; A is an amino group which may have a substituent, with a halogenating agent containing at least one of F atom, Cl atom, Br atom and I atom.
