PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconducting wire rod made by connecting superconducting wire rods with a superconductor, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The superconducting wire rod includes a first superconducting wire having a first superconducting layer with a main surface of a c-axis surface, a second superconducting wire which is juxtaposed to the first superconducting wire and has a second superconducting layer with a main surface of the c-axis surface, and a superconducting connector made of a superconductor which is connected to the main surface of the first superconducting layer and that of the second superconducting layer to electrically connect the first superconducting layer to the second superconducting layer.
