<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a fine speed change regulation time of a polygon motor, compared with that of a conventional system, when changing finely a rotational speed of a polygon mirror rotor, and to restrain productivity from getting low in an image size correction operation. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This image forming device is provided with a photoreceptor drum, each polygon mirror 42Y and the like provided independently in each color, and a CPU 55 for computing a speed change rate when changing the current rotational speed of the polygon mirror rotor 42Y or the like to a target rotational speed thereof, and for selecting and executing one of the first and second two control methods, based on the speed change rate, where the first control method controls simultaneously executions of speed change control and phase change control, and where the second control method controls setting of the rotational speed after the phase change control, when moving a phase from a current phase position to a target phase position, to be matched with the target phase position.
