<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hologram recording method in which, even if a photosensitive recording portion of a recording medium is deformed due to its bend, a hologram recording portion recorded in its inside is not subjected to the influence of the deformation; and to provide a hologram reading method using the recording medium. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the recording medium 1, reference grooves 4a, 4b formed in a frame body 2 are positioned by positioning balls 33, 34 of a recording device 20. At this time, a photosensitive recording portion 3 of the recording medium 1 is not restricted and the photosensitive recording portion 3 keeps a bent state. The recording medium 1 is positioned on a master recoding body 10 with a high precision, the master recording body 10 and the recording medium 1 are irradiated with reference light 40, and hologram recording portions 15a, 15b, 15c, ..., are formed in the inside of the photosensitive recording portion 3 of the recording medium 1. At this time, the hologram recording portions 15a, 15b, 15c, ..., are disposed for recording in a plane in parallel with a reference plane Ha-Ha without the influence of the deformation of the photosensitive recording portion 3.
