PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection nut welding apparatus and method that simplify a moving locus of a steel plate component and that are capable of multi-functionalizing a welding machine. SOLUTION: The projection nut welding apparatus includes: a robot device 11 holding a steel plate component 10 at a prescribed position between an upper electrode 5 and a lower electrode 6 and transferring it to a welding part; a lower side component feeding apparatus 19 which is installed near the elevated position of the lower electrode 5 as the prescribed position and which supplies a nut 1 with the face down to the guide pin 15 of the lower electrode 5; and an upper side component feeding apparatus 37 which, standing by at the elevated position, supplies the nut 1 with the face up to the guide pin 15 of the lower electrode 5 penetrating the steel plate component 10. The face-down nut is welded to the reverse side of the steel plate component 10 while the nut with the face up is welded to the front side of the steel plate component 10.
