<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminescent polymeric actuator using a stress-induced emitter excellent in illumination quality of an illuminating part while being thin. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The luminescent polymeric actuator 1A is composed of a polymeric actuator 10 and a stress-induced emitter part 20 provided on one face of the polymeric actuator 10. The polymeric actuator 10 is composed of a polymeric electrolyte layer 11 and electrode layers 12, 13 formed on both front and rear faces of the polymeric electrolyte layer 11. A part of the electrode layer 12 is provided with a low elastic part lower in conductive filler concentration than the other part. The stress-induced emitter part 20 is formed by diffusion-filling the low elastic part with stress-induced emitter particles 22 or diffusion-connecting the stress-induced emitter particles 22 to the surface portion of the low elastic part.
