PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector for reliably connecting an apparatus to the other without the need for manual operation. SOLUTION: An N-P connector 10 has an insulator 15 in a rear opening portion of a shell 11 for holding a center contact 17. In the shell 11, an external contact 19 is provided concentrically with the center contact 17 and a suction ring 20 is provided along the inside face. A retainer ring 23 is fitted to the opening ends of the shell 11 and the suction ring 20. An N-J connector 30 has an insulator 35 in a rear opening portion of a shell 31 for holding a center contact 37. An air-tight packing 39 is mounted outside the shell 31. During inserting the shell 31 of the N-J connector 30 inside the suction ring 20 of the N-P connector 10, when the front end of the shell 31 abuts on the bottom face of the suction ring 20, the front end face of the retainer ring 23 is pressed against the air-tight packing 39 to push air inside the shells 11, 31 to the outside and shut off the air from the outside at the same time.
