PURPOSE: A composition containing Japanese Styrax extract and its fraction for preventing and treating dermatitis and inflammation is provided to prevent secondary infection to the skin and sterilize bacteria causing athletes foot. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing and treating dermatitis and inflammation contains Japanese Styrax extract and its fraction. The composition is a liquid composition obtained by grinding 50 weight parts of Japanese Styrax extract in 100 weight parts of water soluble alcohol with a mixer and fermenting at 20°C for 30 days. The composition is also a liquid composition obtained by grinding 20 weight parts of ginkgo fruit extract in 40 weight parts of water soluble alcohol and fermenting at 20°C for 30 days. The Japanese Styrax extract and its fraction are prepared by mixing 50 weight parts of Japanese Styrax extract, 20 weight parts of ginkgo fruit extract and 30 weight parts of water soluble alcohol and fermenting at 20°C for seven days.
