<p>When an audio signal is coded, the signal components in the high register range can remain and be efficiently coded, which makes it possible to prevent degradation in the sound quality of the demodulated signal. A digital audio signal is divided into a plurality of frequency bands. The divided digital audio signal in each band is approximated by a function in each of the divided bands. Furthermore, the parameters of the functions which were approximated by functions are coded. When decoding, the parameters of the function in each band are used to interpolate the function, synthesize the signal in each band interpolated by a function, and demodulate the signal. Thus, when each band is approximated by a function, by appropriately setting the function equation, coding which keeps the high register components is performed, and compressed coding capable of reproduction with extremely good sound quality is possible.</p> |
