<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress play of a hinge and to facilitate open drive even when an open drive mechanism is used in an electronic device such as a folding cellular phone. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the folding electronic device 1, a housing KTS on the fixing side and a housing KTJ on the movable side are rotatably connected with each other by the hinge HJ, and the housing on the movable side is openable/closable to the housing on the fixing side. The hinge device HJ has an axis extending over a land portion LS of the fixed casing and a land portion LJ of the movable casing. A projection TB is provided in any of the following: at least one of end faces RS of the land portion of the fixed casing and an end face RJ, opposed to one of the end faces, of the land portion of the movable casing.
