The supporting device has elements that lie partially at an outer contour of a plastic profile (2), where the plastic profile is held in the axial position. The elements are formed by a fluid cushion (6). The axial positioning of the plastic profile is determined by the fluidic pressure. The elements of the device are formed by a roller and the axial positioning of the plastic profile is determined by the elasticity of the roller. An independent claim is included for a method for supporting for a plastic profile, particularly for a plastic pipe.
