PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device which stably maintains a toner supply amount with respect to the drive amount of a conveying member in a toner replenishing section. SOLUTION: The developing device is provided with: a developer holder 171 which holds and conveys a two-component developer G; a developer storage section 173 which is adjacent to the developer holder 171 and stores the two-component developer G; the toner replenishing section 175 which has a toner conveying member 176 and communicates with the developer storage section 173 through a toner supply port S<SB>0</SB>; and a toner storage section 177 which communicates with the toner replenishing section 175 and stores toner for replenishment T, so as to supply it to the developer storage section 173 through the toner replenishing section 175. In the toner replenishing section 175, a toner retreating section 175R for retreating the toner for replenishment T being surplus when supplying the toner to the developer storage section 173 is formed above the toner conveying member 176 corresponding to the toner supply port S<SB>0</SB>.
