The invention relates to a method for producing medium to long-chained hydrocarbons, particularly alkanes, from gaseous alkanes and/or alkane hydrates, wherein in a first partial method a gaseous alkane is converted into medium to long-chained hydrocarbons (synthesis product) via a single or multi-step reaction, while releasing molecular hydrogen, and in a simultaneous second partial method the molecular hydrogen, which is released in the first partial method, is used to produce energy.
