The unit (A) has a housing (G) whose form is adapted to a retaining device that is provided for mechanical accommodation of a housing part. The housing includes a carrying handle (GR) at an upper side, and two electrical plug connectors (S1, S2) in which the connector (S1) is arranged on the upper side of the housing and connected to a cable. A control circuit for controlling a recharging of a battery is integrated into the battery, where the connector (S1) is connected to an electrical drive of the electric vehicle and the connector (S2) is connected to an external charging device. An independent claim is also included for an electric vehicle comprising a retaining device.
