PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous coating agent for rubber giving a cured film exhibiting excellent adhesiveness to a base material formed of rubber materials and having excellent abrasion resistance and surface smoothness, and a rubber article coated with the cured film. SOLUTION: The aqueous coating agent for rubber is composed of an aqueous composition comprising a component (A): an organopolysiloxane that forms a resin-like silicone film upon volatilization of water from an aqueous solution or aqueous dispersion thereof, a component (B): a combination of (B1) a specific organopolysiloxane with (B2) a specific alkoxysilane, a component (C): resin fine particles or rubber fine particles or a combination of them having a melting point≥100°C or having no melting point and having a volume average particle size of 1-40μm, and a component (D): water. The rubber article comprises the base material composed of rubber materials, and the cured film formed of the aqueous coating agent for rubber that covers at least a portion of the surface of the base material.
