PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage system for collecting a storage device's performance information that cannot be measured from a host device, and a method of collecting the performance information. SOLUTION: The storage system includes: a maintenance terminal; at least one disk drive; and a plurality of volumes for storing data written from a plurality of host devices and provided from at least one disk drive. The maintenance terminal accepts the settings of information for measuring the performance of the storage device, and the storage device obtains the information whose settings have been accepted about the data stored in the plurality of volumes, makes measurement based on the information, and sends the performance information about the measured performance to the maintenance terminal.
