<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an onboard system can control electronic control parts without increasing the number of wires, even when the number of the electronic control parts is increased, and to provide its control method. <P>SOLUTION: This onboard system is provided with a plurality of ECUs (Electronic Control Units) 1 having a plurality of operating states of different power consumption and transferring to the operating states based on an ON signal received from an IG switch (Ignition switch) 4 and a power source device 2 for supplying power to the plurality of ECUs 1. The plurality of ECUs 1 are connected to a common signal line 10b to output state signals based on the power consumption by intrinsic frequencies and transmit the state signals to the signal line 10b. The power source device 2 separates the state signals received from the signal line 10b for each frequency, and specifies the ECU 1 outputting the state signal based on the separation result.
