Disclosed are a coating film formed by a coating composition containing dyes, pigments having a selective absorption function at a wave length area of 780 nm or shorter and metal nano wires having long axis of 400 nm or longer and short axis of 50 nm or shorter according what one need; an optical filter formed thereby; a polymer thin film with its adhesive (resin) being dispersed with said coating composition therein; and an optical filter formed by the polymer thin film, by utilizing rod-shaped metal nanorods (metal nano-strips) having <400 nm major axis and >1 aspect ratio. Said optical filter has the excellent selective absorbing functions for the visible and near infrared light and electromagnetic wave shielding functions.
