3,4-Dichloro-isothiazole-5-carboxamides (I) are new : 3,4-Dichloro-isothiazole-5-carboxamides of formula (I) are new: [Image] R : 2,3-dichlorophenyl; 2,4-dimethylphenyl; 1,1,3-trimethyl-indan-4-yl; or a group of formula (a)-(h): R 1CN; phenyl; or 3-7C cycloalkyl; R 2-C(CH 3) 3; -CH(C 2H 5) 2; -CH(CH 3)(C 2H 5); 3-7C cycloalkyl; or -CH 2-S-R 3; R 31-6C alkyl or phenyl optionally substituted with halo and/or 1-6C alkyl; R 4H or N,N-di(1-4C alkyl)aminomethyl; R 5H or 1-4C alkoxy; and R 61-4C alkoxy; 1-6C alkyl; or phenyl or phenoxy (both optionally substituted with alkyl); or R 5phenoxy optionally substituted with halo; and R 6H; R 7 and R 81-4C alkyl; R 9H or a group of formula (i): p : 0 or 1; R 10halo; 1-4C alkyl; or 1-4C alkoxy; n : 0-3. ACTIVITY : Fungicide; bactericidal; virucidal; insecticide; acaricide; nematocide; herbicidal. In tests for control of Pyricularia oryzae on rice, 3,4-dichloro-isothiazole-5-carboxylic acid 2-cyano-anilide (Ia) gave 90% control at 750 g/ha, 5 days after treatment.
