PURPOSE: A spectrum slicing wavelength division multiplexing light source and a system using the same are provided to improve the economical efficiency by minimizing system components. CONSTITUTION: A gain medium(13) has the wide line width. A front reflecting surface(14) has the reflexibility more than the minimum value to reduce the influence of external retro-reflection and the reflexibility less than the maximum value to reduce the influence of mode hopping or mode partition noise in the output optical power. A rear reflecting surface(12) is located in the rear of the gain medium. A band pass filter(20) has the narrow line width. A driving circuit(11) operates the light source.
