PURPOSE: A device for removing foreign material from the surface of a roll and a blade used for the same are provided to automatically contact or separate the blade to the roll using a piston and to prevent damage to the device by the load. CONSTITUTION: A device for removing foreign material from the surface of a roll comprises a blade, a holder part(120), a shaft(130), a lever member(140), a piston cylinder(150) and a bracket(160). One side of the blade contacts the surface of the roll to remove foreign materials. The other side of the blade is mounted on a holder part. The holder part is connected to an outer circumference of the shaft. One part of the lever member is installed in vertical direction to the longitudinal direction of the shaft and rotates along with the shaft. The piston cylinder rotates the lever member. The piston cylinder is installed in the bracket. The lever member and piston cylinder are hinge-coupled. The piston cylinder and the bracket are hinge-coupled.
