<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain an effective reduction of a clearance between the head part of an occupant and a headrest at the time of collision accident of an automobile and enable a collision load to be effectively absorbed to increase a supporting effect of the head part of the occupant. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This active headrest for automobile seat comprises a plate-like stay guide bracket 11 having a bracket root 13 fixedly connected to a frame top 33 of a seat-back frame 32 and projected forwardly from the frame top 33 under a predetermined front downward inclination and having a stay holder hole between a bracket extremity end 12 and the bracket root 13 and a shock absorbing tongue which starts plastic deformation when a headrest load reaches to a specified load, a pressure receiving plate extending in an upward or downward direction of the seat-back frame 32, connected to a stay holder 18 held at the stay guide bracket 11 and receiving a shock load at a downward position, and a headrest having its stay inserted into the stay holder 18 and supported at the stay guide bracket 11.
