The folding seat has a main holding bracket that supports the main part of a reclining mechanism and a driven part support bracket that supports the driven part of the reclining mechanism provided in positions with a prescribed spacing on the inside from the outside surface of the seat cushion or the seat back. A shock absorbing part is provided for at least one of the brackets, and the energy from shock applied to a vehicle is absorbed by deformation of said shock absorbing part.
