<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize an object based on information on invisible light. Ž<P>SOLUTION: It is determined whether the object is a cloud or a snow according to an amount of ultraviolet rays, it is determined whether the object is a leaf or an achromatic color object according to an amount of infrared rays, it is determined whether the object is a flower or not according to texture, or it is determined whether the object is a cloud or a snow according to the amount in a specific polarization direction. Selection of the ultraviolet rays, the infrared rays, the polarized light in the specific direction, or the visible light and focusing on a solid-state image sensing device are performed by inserting/extracting various types of optical filters in an optical path.
