PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of an apparatus preventing the profile of the practically transferred foil from blurring even when adhesive having viscosity applicable for an inkjet system is used. SOLUTION: The foil transfer method of transferring the foil 19 arranged on the a foil material sheet back surface 10a side to a base material surface 20a is provided with an application step of: applying the adhesive onto a transferring target area T of the base material sheet surface 20a; and a pressure-contacting step of: bringing the foil sheet 10 into pressure-contact with the base material sheet 20 through the applied adhesive 30. In the application step, droplets containing the adhesive is ejected by the inkjet system to apply the adhesive and the ejection is controlled so that the applying amount of the adhesive per unit surface area in the profile part Tc is smaller than that in the center part Tm of the transfer target area T.
