<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic wave detection element which allows improvement of an image reading speed. Ž<P>SOLUTION: One scanning line 101 is arranged by a plurality of pixel columns with respect to pixel columns in a row direction of matrix arrangement of a plurality of arranged pixels 20, and TFT switches 4 provided in respective pixels 20 in the plurality of pixel rows are switched by each scanning line 101, and a plurality of signal lines 3 are arranged by each pixel column in the row direction of the matrix arrangement, and each signal line 3 is connected to different TFT switches 4 connected to one scanning line 101 by each pixel column in the row direction, and charges stored in a charge storage capacity 5 are read out by each signal line 3 in accordance with switching states of TFT switches 4.
