PURPOSE: A system and method for extracting a 2-dimensional CAD figure and location information is provided to automatically extract outlines as figure information and location information in order to exactly produce the 3-dimensional information of a drawing designed by a 2-dimensional CAD program. CONSTITUTION: A system for extracting a 2-D CAD figure and location information is composed of a computer body(100), a keyboard(200), a location coordinates input device(300) and a display monitor(400). The computer body(100) makes out a design drawing through a 2-D CAD program and automatically extracts the outlines of the 2-D CAD designed drawing as the information of the figures and locations of space and members. The keyboard(200) carries out user operation to execute work to make out the 2-D CAD design drawing and work to extract the outlines of drawing data. The location coordinates input device(300) as a mouse device selects and executes a menu by the movement of the cursor on the screen. The display monitor(400) visually displays proceeding status for the drawing work of the 2-D CAD design drawing and the outline extraction work of drawing data.
