<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication technique for preventing the degradation of convenience, even if a mobile terminal device includes a server function. <P>SOLUTION: A gateway server 20 controls communication for the mobile terminal device connected to a wireless network and for a server device connected to a wired network. An input section 148 receives a data transmission request to the mobile terminal device including a server processing section for carrying out processing as a server and a client processing section for carrying out processing as a client. A selection section 152 selects, as a destination of the data transmission request, a server device or mobile terminal device which substitutes processing due to the server processing section in the mobile terminal device by duplicating, in predetermined timing, at least a part of data stored in the mobile terminal device.
