PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress dispersion of an over-ball diameter in an axial direction of a spline shaft formed by press working.

SOLUTION: In the spline shaft formed by press working, an overall hardened layer depth of a root part m is provided deeper than overall hardened layer depths of portions other than the root part m.
