<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper postprocessing device with the staple function capable of coping with high speed printing, and capable of coping with various kinds of paper. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This paper postprocessing device is characterized by holding the paper in a state of being superposed in a plurality between a stopper member and a distributor, by controlling so as to switch a paper carrying passage according to order of the carried paper, by arranging the rotatable paper distributor having a stopper member for opening-closing the carrying passage, a sensor for detecting position information on the paper and a plurality of paper carrying passages on the upstream side of the stopper member, on the carrying passage for carrying the paper to the staple mechanism.
