PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a 2×2 optical switch in which two switching states can be arealized accurately. SOLUTION: The tips of two optical fibers 12 are fixed on the back face of each of two opposing collimator lenses 11 through adhesion or fusion, respectively. The optical axes of two optical fibers 12 on both sides coincide with each other, respectively, and the two optical fibers A and B (or C and D) arranged side by side are symmetric, with respect to the optical axis of the collimator lenses 11. A retractable both-sided reflection mirror 13 for switching optical paths is disposed between the two collimator lenses 11. In a first switching state where the both-sided reflection mirror 13 is retracted, the optical fiber A is connected to the optical fiber D, and the optical fiber B is connected to the optical fiber C. In a second switching state with the both-sided reflection mirror 13 inserted, the optical fiber A is connected to the optical fiber B, and the optical fiber C is connected to the optical fiber D. It is easier to accurately obtain the second switching state by inserting the both-sided reflection mirror 13, as compared with the conventional configuration, where a movable prism is inserted.
