<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast receiving apparatus, in which, viewing-channel setting can be performed easily by anyone through simple mechanical operations, by eliminating the need of area setting, when installing the receiver for the first time after purchase, or when the place of residence is to be changed due to moving, or the like. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A frequency of a broadcast band is scanned automatically scanned, a receiving level is detected and a channel at the highest receiving level is automatically set to a viewing channel, so that area setting by a user is not required, and operation is simplified.
