<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably and speedily transfer packets in a communication system that performs retransmission control on an N-process stop-and-wait basis. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A communication device includes a means of performing error detection on N packet data units received through N transmission processes, a means of transmitting a signal showing acknowledgement or a first retransmission request signal according to an error detection result, a storage means of storing packets being as objects of the acknowledgement for transmission to a higher layer, a means of transmitting a second retransmission request signal on further confirming that a missing packet needs to be retransmitted if the order of the packets being as the objects of the acknowledgement are intermittent, and a means of putting packet data units in regular order and transferring them from the storage means to the higher layer.
