PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery authentication system can permit usage of a genuine battery and a non-genuine battery and remove an imitation battery. SOLUTION: The battery authentication system includes a battery and an electronic equipment. The battery including battery identification information has a battery authentication section for authenticating with the electronic equipment. The electronic equipment has a power source for supplying power supplied from the battery to respective sections of the electronic equipment, a memory section for storing the battery identification information of the usable batteries, equipment authentication section for authenticating the usable batteries, and a control section for collating the battery identification information of the batteries with the battery identification information stored in the memory section. The control section collates the battery identification information of the battery passing the authentication by the equipment authentication section with the battery identification information stored in the memory section, and controls the power source on the basis of the collation results.
