The injector (1) has a pressure chamber (5) and an actuator installed in a body (2) of the injector. A control valve closes and opens a fuel outlet path (21) from a control chamber towards a low pressure chamber (22) to influence a pressure in the control chamber receiving the fuel by a pressure channel to displace an injector needle (6) between opening and closing positions. The needle has an axial segment that is surrounded with an application pressure surface (42) generating a closing force from another pressure chamber (36), where the chamber (36) is housed radially in the chamber (5).
