PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem that: in a conventional rotary coupler, a rotating body and a fixed body of applied equipment are coupled so that they can rotate, but in order to rotate the rotating body, the equipment needs to be provided with a motor and a communication part for making a driving force of the motor communicate with the rotating body, thus causing a mechanism of the equipment provided with the rotary coupler to be complicated and making it hard to control the rotation of the rotating body at high speed and with high precision. SOLUTION: The rotary coupler 1 for rotatably coupling the rotating body to the fixed body is provided with: a motor 2 which has a stator 6 fixed to the fixed body and a rotor 5 rotatably supported by the stator 6, and rotates the rotor 5 by power being supplied; and a rotary axis part 3 has a through-hole 9 which is fixed to the rotor, is put through the rotary center of the rotor 5, integrally rotates with the rotary 5, and passes an optical signal in an axial direction.
