PURPOSE: A composition containing extract of mountain cultivated ginseng radix as an active ingredient is provided to suppress acetylcholinesterase activation and prevent or treat brain diseases. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating brain diseases contains extract of mountain cultivated ginseng radix as an active ingredient. The extract of mountain cultivated ginseng radix is isolated from leaves, flower, stem, or roots using water, low alcohol of 1-4 carbon atoms or their mixture solvent. The brain diseases are amnesia, Lewis body disease, Pick's disease, Alzheimer's disease, stroke, Parkinson's disease, or Huntington disease.
