<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voltage compensator compensating the deterioration of direct current voltage in response to a load resistance when an alternating current voltage is lowered. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The voltage compensator, when being externally connected with a single-phase diode rectifying circuit 11 or three-phase diode rectifying circuit, estimates a load resistance R of a direct current apparatus 15 and a smoothing capacitor capacitance C. Based on the foregoing, a computation section 23 computes the capacitance of a voltage boosting capacitor 17 required for retaining a direct current voltage Vd that satisfies the tolerance of the direct current apparatus 15 at alternating current voltage drop, and then displays the capacitance Ca of the voltage boosting capacitor calculated in the computation section 23 on an indication unit 26. Meanwhile, a switch operation section 27 performs switching operations of a connection switch 18 so that the capacitance of the voltage boosting capacitor 17 is turned into the voltage boosting capacitor capacitance Ca calculated in the computation section 23.
