PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speed detecting apparatus can detect speed information of a moving object, without having to use a vehicle speed pulse signal. SOLUTION: A speed detecting apparatus for detecting as the speed information uniform speed travelling state of a moving object includes an acceleration detecting section for detecting the acceleration in the travelling direction of the moving object, and a uniform speed detecting section for detecting as the uniform speed travelling state a first state, wherein the acceleration detected in the acceleration detecting section becomes uniform over a predetermined time, wherein the predetermined time is a time which is set, such that the probability of the first state going into a uniform acceleration travelling state becomes higher than the probability of the first state going into a uniform speed travelling state.
