PURPOSE: A radio link control data processing apparatus in a mobile communication system and a method thereof are provided to prevent a STATUS REPORT transmission triggered by a polling PDU from being delayed by a STATUS REPORT prohibit timer. CONSTITUTION: It is determined whether an RLC status report which includes states of received RLC packet data units is triggered(305). If so, it is determined whether an RLC status report prohibit timer for prohibiting the RLC status report for a predetermined time is being driven(310). If so, a cause which makes the RLC status report triggered is checked(320). If the RLC status report is triggered by the polling PDU, the RLC status report is transmitted(315).
