<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and accurately estimate the service life of a chemical filter. <P>SOLUTION: The chemical filter 10 is composed of filter layers 11-17. Air passes through the chemical filter 10 along the laminating direction of the filter layers 11-17. An absorbent capable of absorbing an object gas component is stuck to the respective filter layers 11-17. A part of the respective filter layers 11-17 is sampled and an absorption amount per prescribed volume is measured. From the measured absorption amount, the absorption amount data of the object gas component of the respective filters 11-17 is calculated.
