PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a building material using chaff charcoal consisting of chaff soft charcoal or chaff hard charcoal formed at a high temperature, suitable in respect of health maintenance of living environment and obtained economically by eliminating various difficulties in a conventional building material such as a clayey wall material that does not excel in porous property of chaff and cannot be expected in effects in maintaining healthy living environment such as a decrease of noxious chemical substance, humidity adjustment, antibacterial property, air cleaning and electromagnetic wave interception because of using chaff smoked charcoal formed at a low temperature and a synthetic resin-based hardening agent. SOLUTION: A building material such as a clayey wall material is formed by mixing diatomaceous earth or Arakida soil, chaff charcoal consisting of chaff soft charcoal or chaff hard charcoal obtained at a high temperature of about 400°C or higher, and a hardening agent formed of an inorganic natural material such as cement, lime or fine sand, at a predetermined mixing ratio. A specific product form of the building material is a molded product of a clayey wall, a clayey wall panel, a block, a brick, a decorative object, etc. in addition to the clayey wall material.
