<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which appropriately copes with defective print in variable printing, and reduces time and labor, and cost for confirming a printed document including private information. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with: a storing section for accumulating data which is common for all printing; a storing section for accumulating data which is different for each printing; an expanding section for expanding the data to image data; a plurality of image carriers for carrying the image from the image data; an intermediate transfer body to which transfer is carried out from the image carrier; an imaging section for creating imaging data on the image carrier; an intermediate transfer body imaging section for creating imaging data on the intermediate transfer body; an image carrier image inspection section for carrying out inspection by comparing the expanded image data and the imaging data; and an intermediate transfer body image inspection section for carrying out inspection by comparing the expanded image data and the imaging data.
