<p>An apparatus 3 for removal of packaging 11 from a big bale 1 that may be held together by a binding material in the form of baler twine, baler net or similar enclosing parts of the surface of the big bale 1, the packaging being made up of any number of layers of foil enclosing all or parts of the big bale 1 and the binding material, the apparatus 3 being provided with at least one supporting means 23 for the big bale 1, at least one cutting means 31 arranged to make cuts through the packaging 11 and at least one gripper 41 including means 47, 52 arranged to grip and hold the packaging 11, characterized in that the at least one cutting means 31 is arranged to, while the bale is stationary on at least one supporting means 23, make at least a cut through the packaging II of the binding material-covered face and substantially transversely of the longitudinal extent of the binding material, and optionally make further cuts through the packaging, preferably in the faces adjacent to the first cut, in order to create an opening in the packaging 11 enclosing the lower portion of the big bale 1, the first cut passing through or in the immediate vicinity of an extension of the axis of movement of the gripper through the big bale 1 and the supporting means is constituted by a rolling tool mounted bale fork provided with at least two spear-like, essentially parallel supporting arms 23 arranged to penetrate the big bale 1.</p> |
