PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus having no difference between a field range obtained when observing through a finder and a field range of an image actually taken and capable of performing complete camera shake correction, and to provide a control method for the imaging apparatus. SOLUTION: When half-depressing operation of a release button is performed, a lens-side vibration-proofing mechanism that performs camera shake correction by an optical system for camera shake correction provided in an interchangeable lens is operated (#53). When fully depressing operation of the release button is performed (#59Y), a body-side vibration-proofing mechanism that performs camera shake correction by moving an imaging device provided in a camera body is operated (#65).
