<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool shaft fixing device a grinding tool which can surely fix a spindle and is prevented from being carelessly operated. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The tool shaft fixing device 12 has an air cylinder mechanism 14 equipped with a wrench 13 having a recessed part 13a externally fittable to a notch part 11 formed on an outer peripheral surface of a spindle 3, a piston rod 15 for supporting the wrench 13 and a cylinder 16 for guiding the piston rod 15. The air cylinder mechanism 14 advances and retreats the wrench 13 between a rotation locking position A where the notch part 11 is fitted to the recessed part 13a and a rotation unlocking position B where the notch part 11 is disengaged from the inside of the recessed part 13a. A control part 18 of the air cylinder mechanism 14 operates the air cylinder mechanism 14 after the elapse of a delay time T1 when an emergency stop switch 19 for stopping the rotation of a drive motor 5 for rotating the spindle 3 is operated.
