PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more easily view contents associated with each other.

SOLUTION: A recording and playback device 11 reads from an inserted optical disk feed URL (Uniform Resource Locator) indicating a recording destination of updated information and records it. In a state where the optical disk is not inserted, the recording and playback device 11 accesses an updated information distribution server 12 periodically based on the feed URL to acquire the updated information and displays the updated information. On the basis of the updated information, the recording and playback device 11 acquires from a service server 13, contents that are newly made viewable and relate to the contents recorded on the optical disk. Thus, a user can easily view the related contents without inserting any optical disk into the recording and playback device 11 or without performing any special operation. The present invention may be applicable to a recording and playback device.
