<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device capable of reducing the number of times of communication between an electronic device body and a remote controller and controlling the output of contents based on a distance between the electronic device body and the remote controller by a simple system. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A television receiver 1 includes a broadcast receiver 2 and the remote controller 3 for transmitting remote control signals. The broadcast receiver 2 includes a remote control signal reception part 7, a display 5 and a speaker 6 to output the contents, a body side control part 8 for controlling the output of the contents on the basis of the remote control signals, and a radio wave transmission part 9 for cyclically transmitting radio waves. Then, the remote controller 3 includes a radio wave reception part 13 for receiving the transmitted radio waves, an electric field strength measuring part 15 for measuring the strength of the received radio waves, a distance detection part 16 for detecting a distance between the broadcast receiver 2 and the remote controller 3 on the basis of the measured strength of the radio waves, and a remote control signal transmission part 12 for transmitting signals indicating the distance as the remote control signals.
