PURPOSE: A digital image processing apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to enable a user to conveniently set up an AF focusing point on a desired region. CONSTITUTION: A digital image processing apparatus comprises a plurality of buttons which are arranged in the first direction and second direction around a display unit. A touch sensor and a contact type switch of a button are integrated. A digital signal processor(129) sets up an AF area after receiving an input signal of the button, and controls so that an AF adjustment can be performed within the set AF area. The AF area is set up at an area where the second direction extended line of the first direction button crosses the first direction extended line of the second direction button.
